Sarasota Seahawks Lacrosse Club

Since 2010, we have proudly served as the original lacrosse club dedicated to our community's growth and success. Our legacy is built on passion and commitment, and we remain at the forefront of lacrosse development, setting the standard for excellence in Florida and beyond.

Our primary goal is for all players, coaches, parents, officials & program leaders to have a fun, rewarding experience while always demonstrating sportsmanship on & off the field as together we learn, share & teach the fundamental skills and teamwork required to play the game properly.

Sarasota Seahawks is one of the most dynamic youth development programs in Florida. Recognized as an innovator in the sport, Seahawks has synchronized and leveraged its activities by partnering with cutting-edge programs to create unprecedented opportunities for lacrosse athletes across the Gulf Coast region from Tampa through Sarasota/Bradenton to Naples.

Through these community partnerships, unique programs and services for athletes have been created, each with the capability to optimize the players skill level.

SEAHAWKS are leaders in lacrosse development. Our commitment to excellence continues to shape the future of the sport for generations to come. Join us in our journey to greatness and experience the difference that sets us apart.

FLYLAX is a lacrosse training system. We serve boys and girls athletes from the earliest stages of youth athlete development up through middle school and high school levels. Seahawks curriculum is based on the FLYLAX training system and methodology primarily because of the emphasis on development not competition.

We use state-of-the-art concepts to achieve our primary purpose of promoting and growing the game through fun, safe, technically-advanced and sportsmanlike activities. Every interested athlete should have the ability to participate in a variety of competitive settings - including leagues, games, clinics, and tournaments.

LTAD Stages of Development

The Long-Term Athletic Development (LTAD) model informs our training curriculum by providing the conceptual framework of athletic development over time. Here are the proven seven stages of the basic LTAD model that parents must be aware of as they manage their child's lifetime athletic experience:

  1. Active Start (0-6 years): Encourages daily, unstructured play to develop functional movement skills, coordination, and confidence.
  2. FUNdamentals (girls 6-8, boys 6-9): Focuses on fundamental movement skills and basic sports activities.
  3. Learn to Train (girls 8-11, boys 9-12): Introduces structured training and sport-specific skills.
  4. Train to Train (girls 11-15, boys 12-16): Emphasizes skill development, aerobic fitness, and strength.
  5. Train to Compete (girls 15-21, boys 16-23): Prepares athletes for competition at higher levels.
  6. Train to Win (girls 18+, boys 19+): Focuses on elite performance and specialization.
  7. Active for Life: Encourages lifelong participation in physical activity
